In the 2021 season, “fighter” might be the best word to define Max Verstappen. As the Dutchman did, a warrior can only admire other warriors. The 24-year-old racer revealed the driver he admires most for his fighting spirit in an interview with a former F1 driver. Fernando Alonso, an Alpine driver and two-time champion, was chosen by Max Verstappen. The Dutchman claimed that they have a close relationship and that Alonso’s tenacity inspires him. “When I was still competing in go-karting, I greatly liked Fernando Alonso’s style. He is a true fighter and never gives up, Max stated.

Hope to see in front

Max Verstappen thinks Fernando Alonso’s tenacity in the face of a worse overall package is what most inspires him. Additionally, Verstappen emphasised Alonso’s drive to continue racing at the greatest level at the age of 40. “Being there for a longer period of time is one thing, but he (Fernando Alonso) always wants to achieve the best,” he continued. Max Verstappen anticipates seeing Fernando Alonso back in the lead and vying for victories. The Dutchman continued by saying that despite the fact that Alonso would compete with him if he received a better offer, the two will always respect each other. Max Verstappen responded, “Of sure it will be a different story, but we will still have a lot of respect for each other,” when David Coulthard questioned if Fernando Alonso would be a rival if he raced up front. Fernando Alonso deserves to be back in the lead; after all, he has won the world championship twice. It’s great to talk to him, Max continued.
