There is no doubt that League of Legends has seen a recent uptick in players, but they aren’t rushing to the Rift to play ranked or ARAMs—it’s all about League Arena. The Arena game mode also referred to as 2v2v2v2, which was first made available on July 20 along with the Soul Fighters summer event, has been a welcome diversion from your usual League.

Riot Games intends for Arena to be more than just a one-time, temporary game mode as evidenced by tier lists, constant balance updates, and even its own ranked system. But will League Arena stay around after the Soul Fighter competition?

What time does the Arena mode of League of Legends end?

According to Riot, League Arena will be accessible from the release of Patch 13.14 on July 20 until the summer event’s conclusion on Monday, Aug. 28, ending at 11:59 pm PST (Aug. 29, 1:59 am CT). The event would not be a permanent addition to the League at this time, Riot staff members confirmed in a post on the official League subreddit on July 11.

Nevertheless, the response did raise the possibility that the game mode would return in some form “after significant upgrades” and depending on player reaction, which has so far been very favorable.

In League of Legends Arena Mode, four teams of two players compete against one another in a single game mode. They battle until only one team remains and then power up their champions with augmentations and items.

Staff members from Riot made sure to emphasize that any plans for League Arena were far from certain and that, should the game mode return, there isn’t a specific date on which we should anticipate it. Riot might decide to include League Arena in a holiday update or bring it back as a summer-only event.

I’d love for it to stick around as a game mode because I’ve been addicted to it ever since it first came out and because it offers a fresh new way to play League. I’m sure that a lot of people, including myself, will eagerly await its return. Play as many Arena games as you can before they all end on August 28 if you’re a fan like I am in the interim.
