Valorant players consider Ascent to be one of the most well-balanced maps in the game, offering equal opportunities for both attack and defense. However, mastering this map requires early planning, especially due to the presence of interactable doors that can make things complex at times. Experienced players may be familiar with the layout, but new players need a headstart to excel.

Valorant Ascent Locations and Callout Guide

Despite some quirks in its layout, Ascent remains relatively easy to learn in Valorant. It features only two sites, each accessible through a narrow area and a common Mid access point. Learning essential callouts is crucial for teams to understand enemy positions effectively. Here are the most important callouts to remember for each site:

On A Site:

  1. Lion
  2. A Main
  3. Scaffolding
  4. A Heaven
  5. A Hell
  6. Tree
  7. Door
  8. Generator
  9. Catwalk
  10. Balcony
  11. Tree

On B Site:

  1. Shop
  2. B Main
  3. Switch
  4. Bench
  5. Market/Courtyard
  6. Gelato
  7. Anchor
  8. Boats/Boathouse

Attacking on Ascent: Strategies for Success

When attacking on Ascent, players will encounter two main sites, both of which can be accessed relatively easily. However, it is crucial to plan your approach before committing to a site. Additionally, players should be prepared to adapt their strategies dynamically if the initial approach doesn’t work.

How to Attack A Site

Approaching the A Site on Ascent requires taking control of A Main and being cautious of potential lurkers from Catwalk. A Main provides a large entry area that Defenders often heavily guard. To gain an advantage, consider approaching the site from Catwalk and clearing Tree to create a two-sided push.

It’s essential to communicate with teammates to coordinate the attack effectively. One common mistake is for a player to enter the site alone, assuming that their presence alone will be enough to secure the site. Instead, players should coordinate with their teammates and have others approach from Mid and Market. These Market players can watch for flanks and deal with opponents once the Spike is planted.

In situations where the friendly player count is low, it’s better to have all players move into the site and defend from various angles. This increases the survivability of teammates and puts opponents in a difficult position as they must decide which angle to peek at.

During and after planting the Spike, utilize Boathouse and the boxes on the site as hiding spots. Staying hidden from the opponents’ vision provides opportunities to catch them off-guard. However, keep in mind that some of these spots may be pre-fired at higher ranks since they are common positions. To counter this, change positions accordingly and spread out more to slow down opponent entries.

How to Plant Spike on B Site

The B Site offers attackers a tremendous advantage when planting the Spike. A specific spot beside the boxes in the middle of the site, parallel to the Boathouse, provides full cover to the Spike planter, enabling a successful plant. Additionally, a player positioned in Boathouse can distract opponents by pre-firing common spots, delaying their entry and supporting the Spike planter.

Mastering Valorant’s Ascent map takes time, practice, and effective teamwork. By learning the map’s nuances and developing sound strategies for attack and defense, players can elevate their gameplay and dominate the competition on this balanced battleground. Good luck on your journey to becoming a true Ascent expert in Valorant!
