After waiting for months, high-octane Valorant competitive action has made a comeback in 2023 starting with tier two Challenger competition across several regions, followed by international VCT play starting mid-February.

In the initial days of the new campaign, a new trend is doing rounds: the Stinger meta. The breakthrough of the Stinger meta is the result of the 5.06 patch from September last year, which decreased the amount of error in both the primary fire and alternative fire modes. This made it more controllable and reliable, especially for short ranges.

Before these changes were made, it was among the least-used weapons in the game, despite its low cost. Pro matches are already witnessing teams trading rounds back and forth, with losing teams to full Stinger buys responding with full Stinger buys of their own.

With just two maps of NA Valoran Challengers play between FaZe and G2, the Stinger was the third most-equipped weapon followed by the Vandal and Phantom. But what’s the reason this weapon has become the focal point of the current meta?

What does Stinger meta mean?

In the Stinger meta, the weapon has become a favorite for players in any round that is not a full buy round. During a full buy round, all the players on a squad will have enough credits to fill their armor, abilities, and weapon of their choice. Players will pick their preference between the Vandal of Phantom.

But in any round which is not a full buy or a complete save, the Stinger can be an ideal pick. This includes eco rounds, half buys, force buys, and bonus rounds. Considering the Stinger is only 1000 credits, players on a loss bonus will be able to afford the weapon with armor and abilities, while still being able to full buy in the upcoming round.

Thanks to the 5.06 changes, the weapon has become even more lethal in close range, making it as viable as a shotgun at close range but with better run-and-gun potential while having more viability at medium ranges.

Some players even consider the aim-down sights fire of the Stinger to be better than the Spectre since the three-round burst is easier to control. For teams playing with comps that are aggressive, the Stinger meta becomes even more viable since they can hit sites and rush spots just by swinging past enemies and spraying bullets on them

How to fix Valorant version mismatch error?

The Valorant version mismatch error shows up when players start the game without updating it. This might occur whenever a new patch has been released and can stop players from queuing for matches.

Players who are facing this issue in-game can follow these simple steps listed below:

  • Players need to exit the game
  • Now, they need to relaunch the Riot Client installed on their PC.
  • They will get a prompt to download the latest version
  • Once it’s updated to the latest version, players will be able to play the game again normally
