The big 8.0 patch is coming on January 10, 2024, according to the developers. This update brings lots of significant changes to the game. So, before we dive into the details of the patch notes, make sure to remember this release date. It’s when the exciting alterations to Valorant will go live, and players can experience the impact of the update firsthand.
Agent Updates
Continuing the trajectory set by the previous 7.10 GravNet (C) changes, Deadlock undergoes further refinement. Focus is placed on enhancing the strengths of Deadlock’s Sonic Sensor (Q) and Barrier Mesh (E).
Sonic Sensor (Q):
Now recallable in round.
Pickup distance increased from 12m to 27m.
Reduced time to concuss once triggered from 1.0s to 0.5s.
Decreased time for enemies to destroy Sonic Sensor from 0.65s to 0.5s.
Deadlock and allies can faintly hear Sonic
Sensor’s audio within its area of effect.
Barrier Mesh (E):
Increased max length of Barrier Mesh walls from 6m to 10m.
Killjoy Updates
Vision radius reduced from 180 degrees to 100 degrees.
Added a representation of the Turret’s vision cone on Killjoy’s minimap during placement.
Visual effects and animations updated to reflect the Turret’s new vision radius.
Map Updates
Upgrade in technology behind interactable doors to enhance player interactions and Agent abilities.
Several alterations to Mid, B Green, and B Orange to add value and predictability to fights.
Added a storage container on the left side to obstruct line of sight from Attacker Spawn to B Tube.
Moved the hanging container to simplify combat in this area.
Added a window at the end of B Tube overlooking Mid and A Site.
Added two boxes stacked flush to the wall.
Adjusted paths and removed B Orange route closest to B Kitchen.
Modified snowpile leading to B Kitchen for silent box descent.
Strategic adjustments to address the overwhelming advantage for Attackers.
Added more room and boxes for Defenders.
Enhanced room near breakable door for improved combat.
Closed A Hut for better site readability, added cubby for Defender options.
Added room and boxes for defensibility closer to site choke.
Adjusted Spike plant zone and stairs for diverse plant locations.
Modified boxes on the back of site.
Added room and boxes in C Main for defensibility.
Introduced extra room to fight from.
Increased rotation time from 8s to 10s for more strategic fights.
Mode Updates
Adjustments to Sheriff in Stage 2 weapon ecosystem for better weapon balance.
Stage 2 – Sheriff Loadout:
Changed Heavy Shield to Light Shield.
Map Rotation
All modes (excluding Team Deathmatch and Custom games) follow the Competitive map rotation.
Current rotation: Icebox, Lotus, Sunset, Breeze, Ascent, Bind, Split
Premier Updates
Introduction of a secondary management role called Team Captain for enhanced team management.
Now view standings in other divisions and for previous Stages of Premier using drop-down menus.
See the seeded division before playing the first match.
Threshold for qualification set back to the standard 675 Premier Score.
