Expectations were of course high for NRG going into VCT Americas given the international success the majority of the team’s players have enjoyed and the team’s performance in their international debut at the VCT LOCK/IN. However, the widespread success that was anticipated hasn’t happened yet.

Ardiis has performed poorly on Raze despite his past success on Jett, and NRG hasn’t chosen to have him play Jett for whatever reason. Their lineups have also lacked any real consistency: In last week’s defeat to MIBR, all five players took on three different agents. However, s0m at controller’s overall level of play has been a notable plus. NRG have the chance to punish a struggling KRÜ and eliminate a C9 team that is hot right now. This ought to be a 2-0 week for NRG, and maybe even has to be.

2.FURIA

After two weeks of victories over KRÜ and Leviatán, FURIA started off strong but struggled against the defending world champions LOUD in their big week three match. Nevertheless, it’s critical that they enter Super Week with the same ferocity and dynamism that helped them succeed in the first two weeks. For FURIA, Khalil has become a breakout star, appearing to be among the best controller players in the area.

FURIA should have no issues this week if he keeps up his current level of play, especially against EG and C9. However, if they falter once more during Super Week, they will have to bounce back later on in the season against groups like NRG, 100T, and Sentinels, who are too talented to consistently perform below par.

100 Thieves were considered a dangerous team going into the season after a strong finish to the 2022 VCT season and after a dominant performance at Red Bull Home Ground after acquiring Cryocells. The team is currently 1-2. Although the EG victory was decisive and the Sentinels loss was close, the 2-0 loss to C9 was shocking.

Since former coach Sean Gares left the team, the team seems to have gotten backwards, and Cryocells hasn’t exactly impressed either. No one wants to be the first to give a winless team their first victory, so their Super Week opener against KRÜ now feels like a must-win. A 0-2 Super Week performance could easily be the trigger for such changes, as Nadeshot has demonstrated across several titles that he is not hesitant to act swiftly on roster changes.
