The top two teams from China will compete at the VCT Masters in Tokyo, according to Riot:

Despite dropping to the lower bracket in the end, Attacking Soul won three straight games to advance to the championship match against EDG. They won back-to-back games on Icebox and Ascent to win the championship after falling behind 2-1 in the series.

Following the addition of Qu “Life” Donghao, a former EDG player, to Attacking Soul’s roster in November, the team will participate in its first international VALORANT event. Following their qualification for Champions 2022 through the East Asia Last Chance Qualifier and the invitation to VCT LOCK/IN, EDG will compete in their third consecutive international VALORANT event.

When it comes to VALORANT international competition, China as a competitive region is still trying to get some wind in its sails. China has only participated in the two events mentioned above and has gone 0-2 in matches at both of them, with EDG being responsible for three of the four defeats (the fourth defeat was caused by FPX at VCT LOCK/IN). At VCT LOCK/IN, FPX and EDG both obtained maps from Karmine Corp. and 100T, respectively.

Leo Faria, the global head of VALORANT Esports at Riot Games, made an announcement that was followed by the release of this information. He stated that China will have a separate VALORANT League during the pre-event press conference at VCT LOCK/IN.

Only this past December did the Chinese government finally approve VALORANT as a video game; the title has not yet been made available to the public but is playable. On June 11, Masters Tokyo is scheduled to begin. Other qualified teams and the format have not yet been decided. In the Omega bracket, Edward Gaming’s first match will be against the team partnered with America, 100 Thieves. The Chinese League’s operators and other pertinent information have not yet been disclosed by Riot Games. It’s going to be a big deal given how popular League of Legends is in the area.
