In honor of the game’s impending seventh birthday, Niantic is hosting an event that will highlight several fan favorites, including all of the Starter Pokémon that are currently playable. In addition, by accepting the challenge of some brand-new Masterwork Research, players will have the opportunity to receive a Shiny Mew that is guaranteed.

The Pokémon Go 7th Anniversary Party will have some content that is similar to that of previous anniversary celebrations while also mixing in new participants. A new set of Masterwork Research, All-in-One #151, that will ensure you have a chance to obtain a Shiny Mew, is the main attraction for players who are not interested in those encounters. Masterwork Research is a paid assignment with several pages that typically take players months to finish.

Players will run into Starters from Generations I through VII during the celebration but with a slight twist. Since the event lasts seven days, from July 6 through July 12, the encounter rate for one generation of starters will increase daily, starting with Kanto. Earlier this year, during the Go Tour: Hoenn, the previous Masterwork Research, Wish Granted, provided a comparable reward in the form of a Shiny Jirachi. The $5 ticket also includes access to double Incense, Lure, and Daily Adventure Incense duration for the duration of the event.

While no brand-new Pokémon will make their debut during this celebration, players can obtain Wartortle and Blastoise for the first time donning Party Hats. This will connect to the July 9 Community Day Classic: Squirtle event as well.
