Aaron Keller, the game’s director, talked about some of the game’s upcoming content, such as the new game mode Flashpoint, in his weekly post to the game’s official blog on Friday. However, he also gave fans who are curious about the new hero appearing in season six a little bit of a tease.
With a trailer for August-released content, Blizzard first teased the hero. Players speculated about the character of the hero based on a brief glimpse of his or her silhouette in the sun, and today Keller confirmed that many of their theories are surprisingly accurate. “The internet immediately went to work enhancing the video to give her more definition,” he said. “Someone even created a concept piece for her! We knew people would do this, and we were surprised with how many of the details they got right about her look.”

Even though Keller said he couldn’t yet reveal the identity of the new hero, he did give players access to some additional preview material that was exactly what most players were hoping for. Keller depicted the new protagonist as she appears to be being beamed with solar energy in an image titled “Solar Threading Ritual.”
The Inca Empire and the Peruvian highlands, where many fans think she originated, are likely connected to the ritual. Keller did not explicitly state what players had correctly and incorrectly predicted about the new hero, but his surprise at the amount of information fans were able to deduce on their own suggests that we have been on the right track. The picture he released today will only strengthen the notion among fans that our new hero will be some sort of solar-powered Peruvian with Incan ancestry.
