After the VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA Ascension tournament concludes on July 16, another player will join the select group of individuals who have had the opportunity to compete on the international stage in a variety of different esports. Following Gentle Mates’ 3-0 victory over Apeks in the promotion final, Wailers Locart, a retired French Call of Duty professional who competed at four CoD World League Championships in the late 2020s, will represent his team in the VCT EMEA top flight in 2019.

He would spend two years with the organization playing Infinite Warfare and World War II before moving to the United States to play for Team Elevate. He would take part in seven CWL competitions before leaving for his native Europe. He would then spend the rest of his days playing for various teams in CoD Challengers.
In January 2023, Wailers announced their departure from professional CoD and a shocking switch to PC and VALORANT, with Gentle Mates—an all-French roster—forming the following month. They quickly began to position themselves to win the VCT EMEA promotion spot, easily defeating both Challengers: Revolution splits.
Wailers and Gentle Mates are nearly perfect in groups, losing to Apeks before a crushing loss to Ascend in the playoffs meant a game away from elimination. The team recovered in the lower bracket, exacting revenge on Ascend in the lower bracket final and Apeks in the grand final with stunning back-to-back best-of-five sweeps to win. All eyes will be on Wailers and the crew when they take the stage for their VCT EMEA International League debut next year. Gentle Mates return in September for the Challengers Revolution Coupe de France. Given their victory today, they will be bound by VCT for two years.
