Previously in Chapter 16

At the beginning of the chapter, we see MC and Minha. Cut to Minha smoking outside of MC’s house, her expression sad. Cut to MC’s room, where MC’s expression is similar. MC’s best friend, Silver, taunts him for being too harsh with Minha, saying things like “We just slept together, nothing else” which might have hurt her.

Silver then plays on MC’s nerves by asking, “Are you not thinking that being intimate with her will change your fate for the future?” Silver’s son responds, “Don’t be a dummy.” MC then jokes, asking, “Could you please change that lame t-shirt?” Silver son takes offense and jokes back, saying, “What are you saying? This is the latest trend in the country.” MC thinks, “I will now try to not get more involved with Minha.”

This MC is so bad, that I need to switch to another one. His daughter laments that she felt lonely when he was in the military and accuses him of being a j**k for seeming like a bigshot while stating, “I have to deal with some flies too”—a reference to his altercation with MC and Minha at the bar.

In September 2002, MC is about to begin his second semester of college. However, he is unable to locate the campus because it is different from the one he attended in the past. Like many members of his generation, MC relies on his smartphone for location services (GPS).

In a humorous aside, the silver son makes the comment, “This Gen Z generation can’t go without phones ufff….” You could have explored campus during that time instead of lying in your room all alone, which is a complete waste of time. It’s clear that MC didn’t meet anyone after that night with Minha and spent the entire time in his room.
