Spice and Wolf includes a visit to Pazzio Town by Holo and Lawrence, the merchant, and the wise wolf. In order to buy apples from one of the vendors, Holo persuades Lawrence to give her silver coins. The two eventually make their way to the Milone Trading Company, where Lawrence is looking to sell the fur pelts of his martens. Even though he gets a good bargain, Holo helps Lawrence get an even better one.

The next step is for Lawrence, Holo, and Zheren to get together at a bar for a business agreement. The three parties commence the deal the following morning at their meeting. Lawrence and Holo then go on to talk about Zheren’s transaction and the Trenni silver coins. Following that, they arrange to meet up with Weiz, a friend of Lawrence’s. Weiz has some Trenni silver coins that Lawrence would want to check for quality.
A handful of silver coins are what Holo requests from Weiz. In order to determine how pure they are, she shakes them near her ear. On their way to the bar, she and Lawrence go deeper into this new discovery. Holo advises Lawrence to approach the deal from a new angle after he finds out Zheren lied. Lawrence expresses his desire to visit the Milone Trading Company to Holo as the program comes to a close.
Lawrence goes to see a corporate representative and offers to sell the official some of his marten fur pelts. The authority claims that the abundance of crops has prevented the locals from harvesting many marten pelts recently. Lawrence rejects the official’s offer of 132 coins and instead negotiates a better deal.
Holo steps in just as he’s about to steal 140 silver coins from the negotiator. Instead of 300 dollars, Holo convinces the official to hand over 210 silver coins. At a later time, Holo and Lawrence go to a pub. Lawrence may be displeased that Holo got a better bargain than him, which Holo observes. When Lawrence asks Holo about it, she says she employed a strategy she had seen another trader do before.
