Rockstar Games’ parent company 2K Support has issued a statement warning users to be careful before opening any emails they get from its support service. The company’s official Twitter account issued a statement explaining the nature of a recent hack – including ways to stay safe.

“Earlier today, we became aware that an unauthorized third party illegally accessed the credentials to one of our vendors to the help desk platform that 2K uses to provide support to our customers.”

What’s 2K Interactive’s plan?

The message further said that people who receive a similar email should instantly delete it. However, if users open the email by mistake, the company’s post also offered steps on how to curb damage.

While looking into the matter, 2K Support will remain offline. At the end of the statement, the support team wrote that they will be putting out new information for the public and their users to make sure they can “best protect [themselves] against any malicious activity.”

Rockstar losing market value

Just a few days ago, huge GTA 6 leaks surfaced online after developer Rockstar was subjected to a big hack. After the incident, it was reported that the FBI will be looking into the matter as it is rumored that one of the hackers behind the Rockstar leak was also a part of the Uber hack that happened this month.

As a result of the GTA leak and now the 2K Support hack, Take-Two Interactive, which is Rockstar’s parent company, have suffered huge hits to its market cap. RockstarINTEL writer Ben Turpin took to his Twitter saying the firm has “lost up to $500M of its market cap.” This number might higher as the situation unfolds further. However, the amount is currently unknown and will rely on the outcome of this whole scene.
