The Master Ball is finally a usable item in Pokémon Go after more than six years and some teasing from the developers themselves, though how players obtain the ultimate Poké Ball is appropriate for its name. Before releasing the Master Ball on May 16, Niantic teased it for a few weeks, tying it into the final few episodes of Season 10: Rising Heroes, specifically with an update on Professor Willow’s progress with her research and Team Go Rocket’s most recent strategy.

The Master Ball only serves one purpose, just like in the main Pokémon games. You can always capture any Pokémon you come across, and based on previous data mines, we already knew there would probably be a unique animation used when using it to prevent missing. If you need more information about Pokémon Go: How to get a Master Ball in the game, then read carefully, and don’t forget to share with your friends.

However, due to the fact that this item essentially ensures that players can capture any Pokémon in the wild, it will be extremely difficult to find. Players can currently only acquire a Master Ball by finishing the Season 10: Rising Heroes seasonal Special Research since it was added to Pokémon Go.

The final installment of this free piece of research, which has been available online throughout the season, will be posted on May 22 as part of the last event before season 11 is revealed and gets underway in June. According to Niantic, Professor Willow will reward players with the Master Ball, just like other Pokémon Professors or significant NPCs in other games frequently do.

Despite this restriction, the creators have stated that the Master Ball will recur on various occasions in the future. We don’t yet know if there will be a strict limit on the number of Master Balls that players can have in their Pokémon Go inventory at one time based on the information Niantic has provided.

Because it is meant to be a special item, you typically only receive one Master Ball during your entire playthrough in other Pokémon games. However, you can still hold multiple if you manage to acquire a second one, just like a regular Poké Ball. Once more ways to get Master Balls are added to the game, it is very likely that you will be able to stack them, but Niantic will need to confirm this once that becomes a possibility.
