Despite concerns that the PvE mode for Overwatch 2 had been abandoned, it was confirmed on June 12. It begins with three story missions connected to the Overwatch 2: Invasion season, which launches on August 10 when the new season debuts.

The missions are conducted in Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, and Gothenburg. Each one requires players to advance through the storyline and repel forces from the Null Sector while completing a set of objectives. It has been said of the maps are “massive” and “complex.” I’m excited to see more of these cities in Overwatch 2, and the Toronto mission especially.

However, there was a surprise twist during the announcement that caught everyone off guard, including me: the story missions must be purchased separately. The missions are offered in a package with other content that has two levels.

According to a Blizzard spokesperson, you must purchase the bundle to access the Story Missions. During the Invasion season, you will not receive any free access to the Story Missions. After the season is over, you can continue to pay for access to them.

The story missions are normally $15 in the Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle. This is the most affordable option and includes the three missions, 1,000 Overwatch Coins, the new Sojourn Legendary skin, and lifetime access to Sojourn. For an additional $40, you can upgrade to the Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion Bundle, which includes two Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko, the Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 battle pass skips, 1,000 additional Overwatch Coins, and other features.

Blizzard has made an effort to soften the blow of the required fee for access to the content by including prices for each of the extras that are offered alongside the story missions. The total cost of in-game currency and skins is greater than the bundle price, according to Blizzard, which has emphasized that each bundle offers significantly more value than is being paid for. Players essentially get the Overwatch 2 skins and currency at a discount in addition to the story missions for free because of the bundles’ relative value.

I’m going with the less expensive option. This season, all I want to do is finish the missions, and I think that’s reasonable. However, there is disagreement among the public because it seems like we will have to fork over an additional $15 for each set of three missions that are released in the future.
