Although he is not well-liked, he is nice, sympathetic, and has great social skills. He decides to assist Komi in overcoming her communication impairment after rapidly realizing that she has one. To assist Komi to make 100 friends, the two set out on their quest together.
As Komi and Tadano make their way through high school, they come across a variety of circumstances and people that help her learn and gain more self-confidence. With Tadano’s help, Komi improves her communication skills, opens up to others, and makes new acquaintances. Komi use a variety of techniques to interact with people, such as writing notes, using gestures, and even picking up sign language. Her body language naturally sends the opposite message to that which she is trying to say. If you’ve read Quiet Voice or seen the movie, you’ll see that Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu shares many of the same communication and other problems.
You can see in Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu that Komi struggles to explain herself and her emotions. Tadano, our primary male protagonist, comes in and helps her better communicate, which is the story’s main, heartfelt goal—helping her make 100 friends throughout her lifetime.
