According to a new Twitter account for the Kinnikuman franchise, the series will soon be getting a new anime. The account also posted a picture along with the announcement. The new anime will be released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original TV anime, which was released in April 1983.

Not just that, there will be an exhibition for the anniversary that will be open from March 18 to April 2 at Tokyo Tower. The manga creator duo called Yudetamago resumed their original Kinnikuman wrestling manga in 2011. It was a web manga that was available for free for everyone.

The manga creators went back to their first 1979 Kinnikuman storyline and picked up from where they left off in 1987. the original manga has inspired several TV anime series and films.

Picking from where they left off

Previously, the duo published a Kinnikuman one-shot manga in Shueisha’s Grand Jump magazine in 2015, and later published a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump for the first time in 11 years in June 2019. The manga’s 81st compiled book volume recently shipped in Japan.

Besides, toy figures of the main character were imported to the US under the “M.U.S.C.L.E” brand name in the 1980s. Viz Media later released Takashi Shimada and Yoshinori Nakai’s Kinnikuman Nisei – Second Generations manga sequel in North America as Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy, and 4Kids Entertainment showed the anime adaptation on TV.

Isura anime coming exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar

The TV anime based on story writer Keiso and artist Kureta’s Ishura light novel has added two new cast members. The staff members of the TV anime announced the news. The staff also announced that the anime would be streaming worldwide exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.

The staff announced that the cast would be joined by Jun Fukuyama as Ars the Starrider and Akio Ohtsuka as Hargent the Silencer. Yen Press will be releasing the novels in English. The company has described the series as follows:

“In a world where the Demon King has died, a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world: a master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponent with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; and an angelic assassin who deals instant death. Yuuki Kaji is starring in the anime series as Soujiro the Willow-Sword, and Reina Ueda will be playing Yuno the Distant Talon. Kaji and Ueda will also be showcased at a live-streamed panel at Kadokawa’s booth at AnimeJapan on March 26.
