Fans of the popular anime series, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, will be delighted to know that the latest film instalment, “The First Kiss that Never Ends,” is set to air on Japanese TV. The film has garnered a lot of praise after its theatrical run in Japanese and international theatres, and it is now bringing the lovey-dovey fever to popular syndications in Japan.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War has been a hit with anime fans worldwide since its release. The story follows the love battles between Kaguya Shinomiya, the vice-president of Shuchiin Academy’s student council, and Miyuki Shirogane, the student council president. Despite their intelligence and high status, they still struggle with the same insecurities and doubts as anyone else. The franchise has gained popularity due to its unique storyline, relatable characters, and hilarious moments.
“The First Kiss that Never Ends” is a canon adaptation of the 14th volume of Aka Akasaka’s original manga series. The film follows the story of Kaguya and Miyuki after their first kiss, where they still haven’t reached a clear confession, leaving their relationship ambiguous. The story is a “very ‘ordinary’ love story by geniuses,” highlighting that even with their intelligence, they still experience the same love struggles as anyone else.
MBS and TeNY will broadcast “The First Kiss that Never Ends” in two parts, with MBS airing the first half on March 31, and the second half airing on April 1. TeNY will also broadcast the film in two parts, from April 1 to April 2. TOKYO MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11 will run the two-hour sequel uninterrupted on April 5, 2023.

While the film’s Japanese TV broadcast has been confirmed, international viewers still await more details about its release on platforms such as Crunchyroll. However, given the popularity of the series and the fact that Crunchyroll has included the previous three seasons in its library, the platform is expected to license “The First Kiss that Never Ends” for global release.
