In a flashback to when Hakuri was eight years old, he and his siblings Tenri and Soya are to the Sazanami cemetery to grieve the loss of their grandfather.
Their father, Kyora Sazanami, who is also the new head of the clan, comforts them and tells them about the unique ability that one of them would receive from their grandfather. A mask representing the clan chief and manager of the Rakuzaichi’s storeroom, this power has been handed down through generations of their clan for more than two hundred years. The transmission of this unique sorcery skill is highly dependent on the close relationship between the Sazanamis, as Kyora stresses.
After encouraging Chihiro to move on with their plan, Hakuri confronts his older brother, Soya Sazanami. As he readies himself to confront his brother, Chihiro can’t help but observe that Hakuri seems different, leading him to question whether he has made a breakthrough.
While Shiba is busy using his teleportation magic to thwart Tenri, the latter goes ballistic and unleashes an assault on him using the Datensenki. Tenri is about to launch a slashing attack when Chihiro steps in and uses the Cloud Gouger’s ice power to stop Tenri in his tracks. Concerning Tenri’s superpowers, he proceeds to interrogate Shiba.
