At the beginning of the chapter, the MC’s dad, stepmom, and stepsis are all in a car on their way to meet the MC. When the stepsister inquires about her age, MC’s dad verifies that she is older than him. Upon meeting mc, the stepsisters convince themselves that he is not really her brother but rather just another human being.
Bullies approach the stepsis at a park at a later time and accuse her mother of having an affair with the MC’s dad. Despite her anger, she pays them no mind. Then Mc bursts into the room to deny it, insisting that his stepmother isn’t that way and that they should apologize to his sister. As they get into a fight, the stepsis rushes in to intervene. Subsequently, while seated on a bench, the protagonist responds to the stepsis’s question about why he would initiate a confrontation when he is physically unable to do so by saying that he enjoyed fighting with her as if they were relatives. After that, the stepsisters began to view MC as part of their family.
Their return brings the story full circle to the present when the sister reassures their mother that everything was just a misunderstanding and promises to have a more in-depth conversation first thing in the morning.
