League of Legends patches occasionally arrive and just leave players perplexed; the upcoming patch is no different. All of the buffs that were hinted at in the Patch 13.16 patch preview from the other day have arrived on the PBE, enabling players with access to the test realm to test out these adjustments before they go live on Aug. 16.

Some of these champions are now likely to show up in both solo queue and professional play, despite the fact that some members of the League community are unsure of why a few of these champions are being buffed. In LoL Patch 13.16, Akali and Ekko are among the champions who receive significant—and dubious—buffs:

All of the champions that have recently appeared in the meta at the top of their respective roles—Akali, Sylas, Ekko, and Wukong—are slated to receive buffs that will significantly strengthen their already potent kits. Akali and Ekko can now deal more damage with their Qs, and the former now have lower energy costs while the latter has a larger shield on his W, which should increase his potential in the jungle.

Despite not seeing as many significant changes, Sylas’ base mana is being increased from 310 to 400, and the mana costs for all of Wukong’s kits are being changed at all ranks. Now that they won’t have to worry about repeated recalls to the fountain, both champions will be able to spam their abilities more easily in the planning phase (or jungle).

The Sheriff of Piltover may once again rule the ADC metagame thanks to a minor change that makes Caitlyn’s passive easier to proc. She will create oppressive lanes when paired with Brand, Lulu, or Karma because they all have damage-dealing abilities that have had their AP ratios significantly increased. This could result in a change in the support meta from engage champions to mages and enchanters.

Alternately, players can combine Caitlyn with Milio, who is constantly available and is still one of League’s best enchanter options despite receiving a lot of buffs to both his damage and sustain. Furthermore, no modifications have yet been made to the PBE, despite the fact that Lucian was included in the list of buffs on the patch preview.

These adjustments are provisional and subject to change before being applied to the live servers since the PBE serves as the main game’s testing realm. Riot Games is likely to make any immediate adjustments to these buffs known in an official rundown of the patch sometime in the coming days. On August 16, Patch 13.16 is anticipated to be released in League worldwide.
