Starting February 15th there will be two main pieces of content available in the DMZ. Before you start trying to unlock Crown missions, you should know that Crown faction missions are only available to owners of Modern Warfare 2. You also need to have MW2 to unlock them. If you own MW2, you can unlock the first level of the Crown mission by completing the final mission of the first stage of the White Lotus faction mission. The White Lotus faction is the starting set of missions, and you must complete the Stronghold Requisition, the first level story mission, to unlock the Crown. Completing this mission will also unlock the first level of Legion faction missions, and it is also part of the requirements to unlock the Black Moose faction missions.

We have yet to see how this change in cost will be received for a free-to-play game, but players will have to pay for Crown Faction. More specifically, players are required to purchase Modern Warfare 2 in order to access the new content. For those who already own the main CoD game, you’re in the clear. If you don’t, your best bet is to wait for a sale if one happens soon.

You must first unlock the Stronghold Requisition by completing any five of the six available Tier One White Lotus missions:

  • Make Contact
  • Hostiles Located
  • Cashier
  • Information Seeker
  • Convenience
  • Committed Shopper

Completing one of these will earn you XP and some additional rewards. You can have up to three missions selected at a time, which makes them active during a DMZ match.Of course, Modern Warfare 2 also has tons of content for Season 2, so picking up the game isn’t a bad idea. Unlocking new weapons and all the attachments that come with them will be easy. However, you can still play the DMZ without Crown Faction and it’s really up to you if the missions are worth it.
