Several bugs and glitches have surfaced during this season, causing Respawn to sometimes take drastic measures, such as removing the Olympus map from rotation due to the appearance of error messages. With Loot Ball becoming a dangerous weapon and a movement exploit found on World’s Edge, players have seen the return of another infamous bug that has been interfering with live matches.

One game with a notoriously competitive ranking system is Apex Legends, where only 8.05 percent of people make it to Diamond, and only 0.45 percent make it to Master/Apex Predator. And to be on top, you need to be dedicated, efficient and hard working. However, due to a strange bug in Season 16, many Apex players are being demoted to the very bottom of the rank of Rookie.
With devoting so much time to achieving a higher rank, it’s understandable that players are frustrated when they fall from Masters/Predator to the lowest level. And this is happening with both professional and non-professional players as well. FURIA player, Xera posted on Twitter, stating that this happened to him as well. He was playing the Apex solo queue and was reset to Rookie. The Season 16 glitch appears to put queued players in the Rookie Lobby and then drop them to the bottom of the game once the match is over.
Unfortunately, according to his comments on the February 19th post, the Pro Player’s Top Rank was reset twice. Another player, Terese, shared a screenshot of his experience on Reddit, where he lost -3,681 RP and was demoted to Rookie. While this bug can be a bit hilarious in regular matches, it is proving to be a huge problem for more strategic ranked matches, where every win and loss counts. Others in the comments shared similar stories, including one who looked like a Wraith but turned out to have Mirage’s decoy ability. Others looked on the bright side and mentioned that an Overwatch style Mystery Heroes mode could make for a fun limited time event.
Rookie ranks were implemented as a way for beginners to get their feet wet in ‘casual’ apex ranked games. So, while veteran players are being forced to climb the ranks again due to a bizarre bug, newbies may not be facing the same challenges. And the bug hasn’t been resolved yet. Respawn has not yet publicly addressed this ongoing Apex issue.
