The time has come for Timothy “iiTzTimmy” An to return to competitive Apex Legends after more than a year away from the Apex Legends Global Series. And this time, he seems to be making it a real priority. Timmy is accustomed to intense Apex competition. Together with 100 Thieves creator Jack “NiceWigg” Martin and former NRG creator Anthony “Apryze” Andrade (who, incidentally, also announced he was LFT tonight), he participated in the ALGS Pro League last year with his streamer dream/meme team, Team SHEEEEEEESH. Timmy first established himself in the Apex scene as a signed pro with Golden Guardians before becoming known as a prominent creator attracting tens of thousands of viewers on-stream.

In addition, he claims that he was unsure of the precise cause, including public perception and ongoing comparisons with other people, as well as a lack of performance or streaming numbers that weren’t where he wanted them to be.Timmy gave several reasons in a TwitLonger for why he repeatedly left competitive Apex behind and why this is the right moment for him to return.

In his tweet, Timmy discussed his inexperience as a professional player with Golden Guardians, which caused his team to perform poorly and ultimately led to him pursuing a career in streaming, as well as his own mental health issues, which served as one of the primary causes of his decision to withdraw from Team SHEEEEEEESH competition. In a YouTube video, Timmy opened up to his viewers about the problems he’s faced recently and went into greater detail about many of those struggles.

In the end, despite the fact that Team SHEEEEEEESH was primarily formed as a fun outlet for him and his teammates, much of the criticism he encountered from viewers and fans “ruined competing” for him. As he explains in his TwitLonger, he was also in a bad place regarding his own mental health.

“At the time, I was too afraid to admit that I was depressed because it was at an all-time low. I still could have played, but we decided to give up after talking as a team “said the well-known Apex personality. Timmy claims that he is currently in a good place in his life and that his competitive spirit is still strong. In Split Two, the division beneath Pro League, he intends to compete in the ALGS Challenger Circuit. Teams competing on the Split Two Challenger Circuit aren’t vying for Pro League eligibility, but those who place well enough over the course of several weeks can still advance to their local Last Chance Qualifier for the ALGS Championship this summer.

Additionally, he has already gotten a head start on finding a team. Timmy says he’ll play with former eUnited pro Lyric Quinonez, another competitive player who frequently blurred the line between competition and content with his flashy playing style. The two of them, according to Timmy, are looking for a controller player who can serve as their IGL, though Timmy is also open to acting as their IGL and”[running us down again].” There are numerous players who can fill those roles for the two, but it will be an interesting reversal of roles when the controller player on a professional Apex team must control two mouse- and keyboard-wielding fraggers.

Still, Timmy and Team SHEEEEEEESH showed that despite being out of the comp scene for long stretches of time, he still has what it takes to compete. It’s difficult to bet against the return of competitive Apex’s prodigal son given that this most recent comeback is presented as an opportunity to fully reenter the pro scene and not just play for content.
