As a recent leak reveals, the development of Grand Theft Auto 6 has extended over a decade. This information not only provides insight on GTA 6’s huge timeframe, but it also reveals information concerning the possible existence of two Bully games. These unauthorised knowledge about Rockstar’s previous and current projects have come to light just after Take-Two’s financial report provided a glimpse into a potential release window for GTA 6.

Despite increasingly long development cycles, the organisation has not changed in its efforts to achieve of quality. The development of GTA 5 began in 2008, shortly after the publication of the fourth numbered edition in the series. Similarly, preliminary work on GTA 4 began in November 2004, along with the release of GTA: San Andreas.

According to the LinkedIn page of Jon Young, a former Rockstar Research Video Editor, GTA 6’s development trajectory appears to match that of its predecessors. This seasoned industry veteran has provided a unique insight, disclosing his role in the production of Grand Theft Auto 6 from 2015 to 2018, during his extraordinary 13-year employment with the corporation. These revelations definitely suggest that GTA 6 was conceived no later than 2015, probably as early as spring, when Rockstar released the much anticipated PC version of GTA 5.

Jon Young’s profile also mentions his involvement in the development of two prospective Bully sequels in 2008. Although the existence and subsequent cancellation of Bully 2 are well acknowledged today, it is Jon Young who provided light on the once-discussed prospect of a Bully 3.

Jon Young’s work at Rockstar, which included generating “internal journalism” and coordinating location shots to support multiple departments, suggests that he was involved in projects from the beginning. While there is no definitive evidence to prove Bully 3’s movement past the development phase, it is known that Bully 2 made great progress before being cancelled around 2010. Insider accounts suggest that Rockstar New England managed to amass a substantial six hours of playable content for Bully 2 before the project was halted.
