During the Rushindra Sinha livestream on YouTube , one of the viewers asked him about the esports industry , “When will the Indian government accepted all esports players as athletes? Will Global Esports take the initiative?” Responding to this, Rushindra Sinha said that the Indian export industry is still very small. He felt that the Indian government should not be involved in esports “right now” and any money invested in the Indian esports industry and the esports organization did not plan to take any government-related initiative.

Rushindra sinha told us, “I don’t think the Indian government needs to get involved in esports right now and invest any money in esports industry . Global Esports organisation is not going to take any Indian government-related initiative right now. I think the government should do its job and we will do ours.” Next, he added, “Right now, I think the esports industry is too small for anyone to join. The whole ecosystem and industry needs to grow.”

Rushindra Sinha later cited the example of other popular Indian sports where Indian players won medals. He said that these sports first gained traction and only then government bodies were created to regulate them. “When the right time comes , the Indian government will join it,” It is not that the government first made a wing for cricket, then it grew so much. He further told all of us, “It is not that the Indian government first Invest all these in esports industry now, first we won medals in Kabaddi sports ,rifle shooting, badminton and Kho-Kho sport and all other sports.and after this won the medal in esports championship in global level and grew the esports in the indian in big level, then the government joined in the esports industry and give all involvement in esports .

Recently, S8UL Esports manager Siddhant “Sid” Joshi revealed that S8UL Esports does not sign international players as Indian business visas are very difficult to obtain, and it is not convenient to bring players into India on visit visas. He said, ‘Bringing the players of the ocean to India is close to impossible. There are a lot of visa issues, because getting an Indian visa is difficult. Organizations have to bring players on visit visas, as business visas are very difficult to obtain.

On the bright side, Indian teams and organizations have been proving their capabilities in esports recently. Indian Dota 2 team recently won bronze medal in Commonwealth Games 2022. In addition, Global Esports became the only Indian/South Asian organization to get a franchise slot in the Riot Games’ Valorant International League.
