Its latest World Series event took place in Bangkok, Thailand, and saw EvoS Phoenix secure first place and $500,000 (~£415,020) in prize money.The most watched match was the Grand Finals between EVOS Phoenix and Kidd Stars. Overall the event secured 170,000 average viewers, down significantly from its previous edition’s 600,000 average viewers.

The first game of the World Series peaked at 1.47 million viewers. The Brazilian team Vivo Kid was victorious in the match played in Bermuda.The second and third matches generated 1.32 and 12.5 million concurrent viewers, respectively, followed by the fourth match with 1.1 million. The figures also show that there has been a decline in viewership from one game to the next.Thai teams won the 2021 and 2022 editions of FFWS. Evos Phoenix crowned FFWS 2021 champions, clinches second spot in 2022 World Series. The first edition, held in 2019, was won by the Brazilian team Corinthians.

The numbers look even more interesting when you compare the Bangkok tournament with the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore, which is the most watched eSports event ever. The 2021 event saw around 54 lakh viewers, a record still not broken by any mobile, PC or console game.Despite the Free Fire World Series debuting as a bi-annual event, this is the first time Garana has been able to deliver two global offline tournaments.

This was largely due to last year’s FFWS November event being canceled over COVID-19 concerns. As such, there are no direct comparisons that can be made between this year’s series with other tournaments that have taken place at the same time.Nevertheless, the tournament’s viewership was not much higher than that of the most popular regional qualification, the FFL Latinoamerica 2022 closing, which attracted 230,000 peak viewers.
