Visa problems have impacted an LCS team once more, and they may prove to be a major hassle for an organization hoping to start the season strong after falling short of expectations in the spring. After acquiring Bjergsen and Doublelift, two of the most lauded players in the area’s history, in the offseason, 100 Thieves was expected to be among the league’s top contenders.

A 10-8 record was still viewed as a bit of a let-down by some LCS supporters, even though they did manage to stay in the top three of the regular season standings, especially after they only managed to win one game from weeks four to six.

Even more disappointing was 100T’s playoff performance, as they lost all of their series after being swept by FlyQuest in the opening round and falling to Golden Guardians in the lower bracket. Then, during the subsequent mid-season break, Bjergsen made the decision to give up on esports entirely, leaving a sizable gap in the roster.

Being a young, qualified candidate with plenty of experience gained from moving up through a well-established LCK development system, Quid was supposed to be the answer to this issue. Things were looking up for the team’s upcoming LCS championship heist with Ssumday’s return as the top laner.

Instead, they’ll be putting their faith in Nukeduck, who hasn’t performed live since 2022, when he played for Excel Esports in the final LEC split. He joined 100 Thieves at that time and is now an assistant coach working behind the scenes to support head coach Jang “Cain” Nu-ri. But first, at around 8 p.m. CT, he’ll be dusting off his keyboard and mouse to compete against FlyQuest in the first day’s final game.

Yesterday at 4 PM CT, the 2023 LCS Summer Split will resume, and you can watch 100 Thieves in action.
