It’s already been clear that FIFA 23 will be the last entry to the highly popular FIFA video game series. EA and FIFA haven’t come to terms with another licensing deal, which means that if we ever get a new FIFA game, it will not be published by EA.

The publishing giant was pretty swift to announce its own successor, called EA Sports FC, the first installment which is slated to launch in the fall of 2023. EA will have to answer several questions in the coming days, including what other football-related licenses it might lose.

It’s certain that the FIFA_goverened World Cup has gone, but everything else remains to be seen. At the club level, several football fans would probably know how prestigious the UEFA Champions League is among all other competitions, though that might change as well if the Super League comes to fruition.

Once fans are past continental competitions and into domestic ones, it is pretty evident what gathers more attention. The English Premier League is by far the is the biggest in terms of commercial success for a domestic football product, and its inclusion in any football-simulated game is a recipe for success. The question still remains of who will win the bidding war for the most popular league in the world.

Will EA Sports FC get Premiere League license?

The EPL will most likely be included in the inaugural EA Sports FC game. EA fans have a solid reason to be hopeful about this because of an unconfirmed rumor that a deal might have already been done between the Premiere League governing body and EA.

All this has been reported by Sky Sports, a popular British sports network. In the report, Sky claimed that EA is close to cracking a deal to secure the Premiere League’s video game licensing rights for close to $588 million.

The network further reports that an unnamed EPL club executive put the annual payments at around $96 million. It seems that this deal would keep the Premiere League under EA’s license for the next six seasons.

EA or the Premiere League is yet to confirm the report, but the specifics mentioned in the report and the understanding that EA will try to retain as many major licenses as possible after losing rights to its own series game make this deal likely, even if it is yet to be announced.

Will FIFA 23 be on Xbox Game Pass?

Unfortunately, the game will not be making its way to Xbox Game Pass. But that shouldn’t be a problem, as we have seen in the past that Game Pass owners might get access to FIFA 23 in the later months.

The game publisher EA has a long-running partnership with the service, and people who subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate even have access to try EA Play titles included in their membership. Fortunately, a few past FIFA titles were made available on Game Pass after release, enabling players to download them without anything extra.
