Once the players successfully respond with the correct password, the gate opens, and they are led into a room with a massive projection screen on one side. The group then receives instructions on the VR game’s controls through an instructional video, followed by a practice session with the staff. Moving forward in the game requires bouncing on the balls of your feet, with the speed of your bounce dictating your movement speed. Turning left or right is achieved through the same motion, and jumping launches you several stories into the air. The controller in your right hand allows you to wield a chakra sword, while your left controls an exploding Rasengan.

After completing the practice session, participants are led into a room filled with wireless Pico VR headsets, put them on, and enter the game. The experience is sure to leave fans of the franchise thrilled and delighted, as they explore the Hidden Leaf Village and battle enemy ninjas alongside Naruto and his friends in a fully immersive virtual world.

NARUTO×BORUTO VR is divided into five stages, each designed to introduce and combine different game mechanics. The first stage allows players to explore the Hidden Leaf Village for a limited time, giving them an opportunity to get used to moving and turning. In the second stage, players must navigate a challenging path with twists, turns, and elevation changes, all while collecting items to teach them how to combine running, turning, and jumping.

The third stage focuses on using the Rasengan to shoot ninjas, while the fourth stage requires players to fend off attacking ninjas with their swords. The final mission is the ultimate test, pitting players and two computer-controlled companions against an endless stream of ninjas and a giant boss monster. While it’s possible to fail and “die” in the game, the real challenge is beating the time limit, which is constantly ticking down, with precious seconds lost every time a player must respawn.

After completing the final mission of NARUTO×BORUTO VR, players remove their headsets and proceed to a photo booth where they can take a commemorative picture with Naruto and Sasuke. Before leaving, players can browse through the gift shop, which is filled with exclusive Naruto merchandise. the experience was highly enjoyable, with the final boss fight being a particular highlight. Jumping into the air, shooting Rasengans at the boss to stun it, and following up with countless slashes to the monster’s face felt incredibly satisfying. However, while the forward movement and jumping mechanics worked well, I found turning while moving to be quite challenging, even after practicing.
