Season 18 of Apex Legends will be the game’s newest addition when it launches in early August. The game’s developers have already given us a heads-up on some of the changes we can anticipate, even though the patch notes haven’t yet been fully released. The season’s debut trailer debuted on July 31, and since then, there have been numerous teasers and leaks, some of which have revealed new versions of a legend and a weapon.

The new ranked season will feature new content, as well as some adjustments, meant to up the ante in competitive games. But before it all begins, there isn’t much time to waste. Here are the patch notes for Apex season 18, Resurrection, as far as we currently know.

  • Passive: Assassin’s Instinct – You can climb higher both vertically and horizontally than other Legends and crouch-walk more quickly. You can see enemies with low health. Enemies that you bring down to low health are marked for your entire team.
  • Tactical: Shadow Pounce – Start moving in the desired direction. To build up energy for a further leap, hold down the tactical ability button.
  • Ultimate: Forged Shadows – Gain access to a shadow shield that, when activated, deflects damage and gradually recharges. Your tactical and shield cooldowns are reset and the duration is extended by taking out enemies.

Revenant Reborn

Respawn has announced that Revenant Reborn, a revamped version of the character, will act as the season’s “new” legend. Respawn decided not to introduce a new legend to the game in season 16; this season, Revenant Reborn has been added. Ballistic was a development added in season 17. Fans all over the world got to see how the development team approached the rework and how the Synthetic Nightmare plays in season 18, Resurrection, when Respawn debuted an early look at Revenant’s new ability kit with iiTzTimmy on August 2.

Disruptor Rounds return

For the first time since season two of Apex, Disruptor Rounds are being brought back as floor loot. They will be available for the Alternator, the weapon most closely associated with them, as well as a new companion in Disruption: the Peacekeeper. Both weapons will receive the damage enhancement to shields, which has typically ranged from a 1.3X to a 1.7X enhancement to damage between shields for each weapon in the care package over the course of the last few seasons. The new ground loot Disruptor Rounds’ damage buff is yet to be determined in full.

SMG nerfs

SMGs will receive some general nerfs in season 18, Respawn revealed to Dot Esports and other media outlets at a pre-season press event. These are still a little hazy, though. Respawn has announced that the headshot multiplier and strafe speed abilities of all SMGs will be reduced.

New care package and Replicator rotations

  • Hemlock returns to ground loot with buffs over its previous ground loot state.
  • Prowler SMG enters the care package with Selectfire hop-up.
  • R-99 and Rampage LMG return to ground loot.
  • Nemesis AR and Mozambique with hammerpoints enter crafting rotation.

In season 17, when given the option of picking up a care package from the ground with no attachments, would you rather pick up a Hemlock or a Nemesis? Nearly every time, we chose the Nemesis. We felt that the Hemlock was significantly underwhelming in comparison to the gun because it was so good.

Charge Rifle rework

Respawn announced on August 3 that the Charge Rifle will formally undergo an overhaul. The weapon will no longer function as a hitscan and instead fire projectile “railgun” bolts that deal more damage to enemies the further you are from them. The gun will also have a charging shot feature that boosts a shot’s power as you hold the trigger down longer, up to a fully charged shot. When you let go of the trigger, the gun will fire, much like the Bocek Bow.

Players commented that the Charge Rifle appears to be getting some sort of rework in a teaser image that Respawn posted on July 30. A Vinson Dynamics project called “Railgun” includes pieces of the Charge Rifle, as seen in a picture shared on Twitter by the official Apex Legends account. With a much higher skill floor (and ceiling) than it previously had, the new Charge Rifle will live up to its teaser. As one shot now only uses one bullet of sniper ammo, the Charge Rifle’s bullets will also be changed to reflect the redesign.
