Previously in Chapter 153

They keep telling her that she and her children will have to vacate the property shortly due to her chronic rent arrears. Separately, Zuma’s younger brother and he are having a conversation on umbrellas. Zuma remembers a period when he stood up for his younger brother and stopped bullies from harming him. A day later, when caught in a downpour, Zuma’s brother tries to retrieve his lost umbrella.

Zuma quickly leaves for his brother’s whereabouts. In a follow-up panel, Zuma and his mother are heartbroken because Zuma’s sibling dies. The following multiple panels show Zuma’s mother taking her son to a theme park. The next panel shows Zuma’s mom attempting to leap across a speeding train. Zuma falls short in his attempt to halt her.

Fans can add Zuma to the list of characters with “tragic backstories” that includes his brother’s death and his mother’s suicide. Also, it’s nice to see a shonen manga that deals with a complicated past in an interesting and innovative way. True, other mangaka have attempted to move readers with their stories through images.

Even yet, for those who weren’t already rooting for Zuma, it was a compelling and engaging approach to introduce them to his persona. But we still think Zuma will be a major character in the show, right up there with Momo and Okarun. This would be in keeping with the series’ use of the “recruiting others” premise, which is prevalent in shonen fiction both past and present. Source from reviewgeek.
