Indian Esports atheletes are going to start their run at the CWG 2022, in Birmingham today. The Indian team in the Rocket League will be led by Hargun Singh with Sandeep Sahani and Rushil Reddy being the other two members. The Commonwealth Esports Championship is a multi-nation, multi-games event that takes place between the commonwealth nations. It has been the result of the partnership between the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Global Esports Federation, and the support from the British Esports Association.
Talking about representing the country at the Commomwealth Esports Championship 2022, Hargun said “I am really excited about esports being included in a Commonwealth event as this will really change how esports is perceived among people around the world. As a player, it’s a huge opportunity being given to us and we are really going to do our best to represent India as best as we can. All of us are putting in extra effort to maximise everyone’s potential and work together as a team.”
On August 6-7, 2022, the Commomnwealth Esports Championship will take place in Birmingham’s International Convention Center (ICC). The Global Esports Federation and its network of partners will be in charge of the administration, branding, medals, and organisation of the Commonwealth Esports Championships. The preliminary rounds will begin on August 3 and go through August 5 at Nottingham Trent University, and the semifinals and finals will take place on August 6 and 7 at the International Convention Center in Birmingham. In Rocket League, a total of 8 nations have qualified, and India has been assigned to Group B with Canada, England, and Wales.
