In chapter 153, Kengo’s girlfriend and Taiki’s parents who were meeting for the first time turned out to support their son in his first match. We learned more about Taiki’s past particularly how he felt about his mother, who introduced him to badminton and sparked his passion in the game.

Taiki’s opponent began to pull ahead in the match and as it went on his mother recalled a time when he had gone into a round-robin tournament and lost without winning a single game. Even though Taiki has always loved badminton he finds losing difficult, however we also saw the huge sacrifices that his mother made in order to feed his passion.

When Taiki started to comeback and take the lead again in the match Haryu senpai was seen showing his respect for Taiki. There was also a touching scene when Taiki saw Chinatsu cry and open up in front of him, Taiki was so thankful of his mother’s constant support.
