Apex Legends: How can players create and play a custom game?

With the surging popularity of tournaments like the Apex Legends Global Series, several Apex players took advantage of one of its most important and exclusive features: the custom game. Custom lobbies enable tournament organizers to create and run games exclusive to invited teams.

However, custom lobbies aren’t only for professional players. Players might have also seen them used by streamers and content creators, be it a tournament of their own, or for creating their own unique ways to play the game. In this article, we will discuss everything to know about creating a custom game in Apex.

How to create and play a custom game

It’s important to note that these private lobbies aren’t available to everyone. Players will still require a code to access a custom match. It’s needed to play in someone else’s custom game or create their own.

For creating their own custom games or running their own tournaments, players will have to contact EA and request an access code. To do so, they’ll have to visit the Apex website.

For playing in a tournament run by someone else, you still need a code to get into the custom game. But here the code will be provided by the tournament organizer. After getting the code, players need to find the place to enter it. After firing up Apex, they need to select a new game mode in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Once the modes menu opens up, they will notice a small podium icon in the top right corner of the menu. Selecting this option will get them into a custom game. Once players have selected this icon, the game should prompt for a password to join a private tournament. Enter the password, and the rest will be self-explanatory.
