Eight of the 11 nightmare lineups feature a Zenyatta and Ana combination on the support side of things. While all tanks have greater health pools than the average DPS or Support hero, Zenyatta’s Orb of Discord can make them much more vulnerable to attack, and Ana’s well-timed Biotic Grenade can help counteract any healing they receive. Essentially, the goal of this support combo is to aid in your ability to burst down the tank before they have a chance to act significantly.
Due to her propensity for hacking targets, Sombra is the DPS hero who appears in most lineups. A quick hack can be used in conjunction with an Orb of Discord and a Biotic Grenade to completely ruin a tank’s day, especially against tank heroes with a lot of utility, like Ramattra and Sigma.
Widowmaker and Reaper both appear twice, and Tracer, Mei, and Cassidy all appear three times. Mei and Cassidy are particularly troublesome due to their ability to both damage and control crowds. However, despite having different play styles, Tracer, Reaper, and Widowmaker are some of the strongest heroes in the game who deal only damage.

Because Tracer is a much more mobile character who desires to get close to opponents, she is particularly effective against characters like Orisa and Reinhardt. With his close-range burst damage, Reaper is perfect for eliminating heroes like Winston and Roadhog. On the other hand, anyone playing without a shield, like Junker Queen, will find Widowmaker a nuisance due to her high ranged damage potential.
It doesn’t matter what the opposing team’s tank plays are; if you and your team come in hot with your corresponding nightmare composition, you’ll be sure to force them to swap off of that hero very quickly. Even when they do, however, it might be challenging for them to find a reliable tank choice due to how much overlap there is with each of these compositions.
