In first class cricket, Sheldon Cottrell plays for the Leeward Islands. However, he made his Test Debut in November 2013 against India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in the penultimate Test of the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar as well. Meanwhile, more than his game, his celebration has made headlines.

On 3rd June 2018, he was added to play for the Vancouver Knights in the players’ draft for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament where he was the highest wicket-taker with sixteen dismissals in eight matches as well.
In April 2019, he was included in the West Indies squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup where he finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker for his side, with twelve dismissals in nine matches as well. However, Kings XI Punjab bought him in the 2020 IPL auction before the 2020 Indian Premier League but he was later released by them ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League as well.
