Soumya was born on 25 February 1993 in Satkhira region of Bangladesh. Soumya is a right handed top order batsman. Soumya Sarkar has been a part of Bangladesh premier League (BPL) since 2018, when for the first time he was signed by Rajshahi Kings in October for 2018-19 season. In the 2019-20 season of Bangladesh Premier League, Soumya was selected by Comilla Warriors. He scored 88 runs in a match against Rajshahi Kings, which is his highest T20 score.
