Ruturaj Gaikwad of Maharashtra was at his blistering best in the present Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final against Uttar Pradesh, scoring an uneaten 220 runs to assist his side reach 330 runs in the allotted fifty overs. His best came in the penultimate over of the match, when he hit 43 runs off the bowling of Shiva Singh. Ruturaj Gaikwad blasted seven consecutive sixes in this over.

The fifth ball of the over was a no-ball, and the free-hit also went for a six, so he did the unthinkable and took 43 runs off the over. Ruturaj became the first hitter in List-A history to score 42 runs in a single over after hitting Shiva Singh for 42 runs in an over. Shiva Singh ended up conceding 43 runs in the 49th over as a result of one run coming off a no-ball. Gaikwad has also surpassed Rohit Sharma’s record of hitting the most sixes (16) in a single List-A inning. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 220 runs off 159 balls, including 10 fours and 16 sixes.
