WATCH: Buttler teases Green in the ODI

"Chasing the ink, chasing the ink, Good to see someone playing a shot, Daws (Liam Dawson). Big auction coming up,” Buttler could be heard on the stump mic saying. Given his remarkable all-around skills, the 23-year-old Green is projected to fetch a lot of money at the forthcoming IPL mini-auction.

On Thursday, November 17, Australia easily defeated England in the first of three One-Day International (ODI) matches at the Adelaide Oval. With a spectacular batting showing in the match, the Australian top order annihilated the visitors’ total of 287. During Australia’s innings, England skipper Jos Buttler aimed a cheeky dig at Cameron Green, noting the upcoming IPL auction, which is set to take place next month (December 23) in Kochi, India. Green came down the track on the third ball of the 41st over and failed to time Liam Dawson’s delivery. Following that, the Three Lions captain slammed Green in relation to the upcoming auction.

“Chasing the ink, chasing the ink, Good to see someone playing a shot, Daws (Liam Dawson). Big auction coming up,” Buttler could be heard on the stump mic saying. Given his remarkable all-around skills, the 23-year-old Green is projected to fetch a lot of money at the forthcoming IPL mini-auction. The franchises will surely keep an eye on the youthful prodigy, who has a decent chance of walking away with a huge payday at the auction next month. He hit a couple of fifties against India opening the batting for Australia in the T20I series prior to the world cup.

Green has had terrifc time off late

It would be interesting to see if Green registers for the auction, considering the Ashes follows the IPL right after. As far as the first ODI is concerned, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa each took three wickets and had England at 158/6 at one point. Dawid Malan fought alone for England, scoring a century (134 runs) and helping the team to a respectable total of 287/9 in 50 overs. In response, David Warner’s 86 off 84 balls, combined with Travis Head’s 69 off 57 balls, gave the side a significant lead as they began their chase. Furthermore, Green’s presence at the crease, combined with Steve Smith’s 80* off 78, helped the team to a comfortable victory.
