Twitter reacts as Jaydev Unadakat gets called up to the Test team after 12 years

If Unadkat is selected to play in either of the two Tests in Bangladesh, he will break Parthiv Patel's record for the longest interval between two Tests by an Indian player. The 31-year-old left-arm bowler made his debut against South Africa in Centurion in 2010.

The left-arm bowler Jaydev Unadkat has been called up to the India team for the Test series in Bangladesh. Unadkat, who recently bowled Saurashtra to the Vijay Hazare Trophy victory, has been selected in lieu of Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out of the series owing to bowling arm tension, as reported by Cricbuzz. India will play two Test matches in Bangladesh. If Unadkat is selected to play in either of the two Tests in Bangladesh, he will break Parthiv Patel’s record for the longest interval between two Tests by an Indian player. The 31-year-old left-arm bowler made his debut against South Africa in Centurion in 2010. But since then he has never been a part of the Indian Test squad even when he has played 7 ODIs and 10 T20Is.

Numerous players, including captain Rohit Sharma, have sustained injuries while playing for India in Bangladesh. It is still unclear whether the captain has been completely eliminated from the series. Rohit may be available for the second Test after sustaining a “blow to his thumb” during the second ODI in Dhaka on December 7. KL Rahul will be the team’s captain for the first Test (December 14–18). Abhimanyu Easwaran, who captained India A in a two-match series that ended on Friday, might be asked to fill in for Rohit in the opening Test.
