South Africa completely destroyed Bangladesh to record an extraordinary victory on Tuesday in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Porteas bowled out the Bangla Tigers for a mere 84 and scored 86-4 in 13.3 overs. The victory will undoubtedly help their net run rate as they made their way into one of the semi-final places in their group. Their two ace fast bowlers, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje stole the show on a pitch that surprisingly offered quite a lot of help to the pacers. Both bowlers picked one wicket each and conceded very few runs to dismantle the Bangladesh batting attack.

There was absolutely no one in the Bangladesh batting unit that displayed an admirable performance apart from lower-order batter Mahedi Hasan. Hassan made 27 runs in 25 deliveries in an innings that included two boundaries and a maximum. Liton Das also reached double figures but was extremely slow. He made 24 runs in 36 deliveries. Shamim Hossain made 11 runs off 20 deliveries and Mohammad Naim scored nine off 11 balls.

RABADA, NORTJE DEADLY

Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada were at their absolute best as the duo completely dismantled the Bangladesh batting unit. Nortje was exceptional both in the wickets department and the economy department. He bagged three wickets and 3.2 overs and conceded a mere eight runs in the spell.

Rabada also was in outstanding wickets as he too bagged three wickets. The pacer conceded only 20 runs in four overs in what was a magnificent display of pace bowling. Tabraiz Shamsi, the number 1 T20 bowler in the world at the moment, chipped in with a couple of wickets as well. He conceded just 21 runs in four overs. Dwane Pretorius bagged one wicket and conceded only 11 runs in three overs.

BAVUMA PLAYS STEADY KNOCK

It took the Proteas only 13.3 overs to win the match. Skipper Temba Bavuma played a fine knock as he scored an unbeaten 31 in 28 deliveries in a knock that included three boundaries and one maximum. He built a fine partnership with Rassie van der Dussen who played a relatively slower knock. Van der Dussen scored 22 runs in 27 deliveries. Opener Quinton de Kock played a decent cameo at the top of the order, scoring 16 runs in 15 deliveries. The match was finished off with a boundary by David Miller who remained unbeaten on five runs in two deliveries.

TASKIN PICKS TWO

There was not much the Bangladesh bowlers could do to help their tim win the match but there was a pretty impressive performance by fast bowler Taskin Ahmed. Taskin picked two wickets and conceded only 18 runs in four overs. He was the only positive in a match that was filled with disappointment for the Bangla Tigers.

Mahedi Hasan, who played a decent knock with the bat, picked a wicket and conceded 19 runs in 2.3 overs. Nasum Ahmed also picked a wicket and conceded 22 runs in two overs.
