Namibia continue to impress in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021, having pulled off a triumph against Scotland in the Super 12 encounter between the teams on Wednesday. The former registered a win by a margin of four wickets, having been handed a target of 110 runs to chase. While there were no noteworthy performances with the bat specifically, JJ Smit deserves credit for ensuring a composed finish to proceedings. Smit made his presence felt with a mature performance against Scotland who can be difficult to negotiate if left unchecked. The cricketer remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 23 deliveries in an innings comprising of two boundaries and sixes apiece, wrapping up the chase with a fine six. Michael Leask was the pick of the bowlers for Scotland, accounting for two dismissals.

Leask was the top performer with the bat as well, accumulating 44 runs from 27 deliveries, in a knock which included four boundaries and two maximums. None of the other batters really managed to make much of an impact, eventually going on to cost Scotland the game. Ruben Trumpelmann and Jan Frylinck were the key performers with the ball for Scotland, chipping with three and two wickets respectively.

All-round display helps England beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets

England continued their impressive start to the T20 World Cup with an inspired victory over Bangladesh at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. England destroyed West Indies in their opening fixture of the super 12 stage and continued their dominant form into their second match against Bangladesh by beating them with eight wickets to spare.

“The bowlers have been very disciplined and have adapted well. The fielding has been good as well and has backed the bowling as well. It is a huge compliment the way our white ball cricket has come up. We have had players fighting for places. It is crucial for Roy and Dawid to get some time on the wicket. It is great to see him like this,” said Eoin Morgan as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We were very disappointed the way we batted. We didn’t start well and we didn’t get any partnersips. If we get a good start, we can capitalize. It gets difficult on a wicket like this if we don’t get a good start. We have more skillful hitters than power-hitters. I think we need to reassess a few things in batting,” stated Mahmudullah.

Jason Roy, the Player of the Match termed the encounter as a “special” match.

“Very special match for us. Had to back up our last performance against WI and we came out firing with the ball. Nice to get into more of a routine now in the last couple of years (more T20 cricket being played). It’s definitely a case of keeping wickets in hand and powering through in the back end of our innings. Working very hard on it in the last few years (against spin). It’s a part of my game that’s improved a lot,” said Roy.
