Afghanistan recorded a dominant victory over Scotland in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Monday. The batting order of the side was absolutely on fire on the day with every single batter getting a decent score. The Scotland bowling attack just could not deal with the sheer skill of the Afghanistan batters as they cruised to 190-4 in their 20 overs. The Scotland batters, on the other hand, were completely dismantled by the Afghanistan bowlers. Mujeeb ur Rahman was the star bowler on the day as he recorded a fantastic five-wicket haul. Scotland were bowled out for just 60 runs. Overall, it was a win that would give Afghanistan a huge boost of confidence for the rest of the tournament.

MUJEEB PICKS FIVE WICKETS, RASHID BAGS FOUR

The Afghanistan bowling attack was on absolute fire against Scotland. The charge was led by Mujeeb ur Rahman who recorded an outstanding five-wicket haul to ensure victory for his team. He picked five wickets in four overs and conceded only 20 runs. Rashid Khan was also one of the brightest stars on the day as he picked four wickets in four overs and conceded only nine runs in 2.2 overs. Naveen ul-Haq also put in a good shift as he picked one wicket in two overs and gave away only 12 runs.

It was a poor day for the Scots with the bat as they have been given a harsh reality check after the impressive victory against Bangladesh. Only three Scottish batters could get into double figures on the day. These were George Munsey who scored 25 runs off 18 deliveries, skipper Kyle Coetzer who made 10 runs off seven balls, and all-rounder Chris Greaves who added 12 to the score.

DOMINATING AFGHANISTAN BATTING DISPLAY

The Afghanistan batters showed exactly how good they were on the day as every single batter got to a decent score. Opener Hazratullah Zazai played a fine knock as he scored 44 runs off 30 deliveries. His opening partner Mohammad Shahzad also played a decent knock, making 22 runs off 15 deliveries. There was a massive middle-order partnership as well between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran. Zadran scored an impressive half-century, making 59 runs in just 34 balls. Gurbaz just missed out on his 50 but he made 46 runs off 37 deliveries. Skipper Mohammad Nabi played a cameo as he made an unbeaten 11 runs off four deliveries.

There was not much joy for the Scotland bowlers as they were smashed all around the park by Afghanistan. Safyaan Sharif had a decent performance as he picked a couple of wickets in four overs and conceded 33 runs. Josh Davey and Mark Watt picked one wicket each for Scotland. Watt had a fairly good performance on the day as he only conceded 23 runs in four overs.
