The league stage games of the T20 Blast 2022 are near to the end where Leicestershire will take on Northamptonshire in their upcoming fixture on Friday, July 1 at Grace Road in Leicester. Leicestershire is placed sixth in the points table with 12 points to their name from 6 wins and as many defeats as well. Meanwhile, Northamptonshire is currently at fifth in the points table and they have 14 points to their name after having won 6 games and losing 5 as well.

Leicestershire won their last game against Nottinghamshire by 47 runs. Alex Hales’ fifty went in vain as Naveen-ul-Haq’s four-fer dismantled Nottinghamshire’s batting order. Opting to bat, Leicestershire got off to a good start even as none of the batters got into the forties. While a collapse through the lower middle order saw them struggle at one point in the game, before a stunning cameo from Ben Mike, who hit 29 off 12 balls including three sixes, helped them to a decent total of 170. During the chase, only Alex Hales managed to contribute well as Nottinghamshire were reduced to 97/6 after his dismissal. While Mike chipped in with a couple of wickets, Naveen-ul-Haw’s four-fer sealed the deal.

On the other hand, Northamptonshire lost their last game to Yorkshire. They recovered from a pressure situation of being reduced to 11/3 before picking up a 62-run win. Harry Brook’s 31-ball 67 along with David Willey’s knock helped them post a decent total as well. Brook smashed six sixes and four boundaries whereas Jordan Thompson (30) and Matthew Waite’s (35*) quick cameo helped them reach 190. Waite then returned with a three-wicket haul, conceding just 18 runs in his three-over spell and Northamptonshire were eventually bundled out in 16.2 overs for 128 only.
