The 34th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) will pit cross-town rivals against each other, with Sydney Thunder hosting Sydney Sixers at Sydney Showground Stadium on January 8. After a sluggish start to their BBL campaign, the Thunder have recently recovered form, winning four consecutive games. They are coming off a fantastic win against the Scorchers and will be looking to continue their current run. With five wins in eight completed matches, their crosstown rivals, the Sydney Sixers, are also in contention for a top-four finish.
Despite the fact that the average first-innings total at Showground Stadium this season is 130, a decent batting surface is forecast for this contest. The Pacers have taken advantage of the circumstances this season, accounting for 21 of the 25 wickets that have fallen in two games. The surface at the Sydney Showground Stadium will help the pacers as well as the bowlers at the start of the innings. Batters, on the other hand, maybe optimistic about their chances in the later innings. The team that wins the toss should bat first, and anything above 170 is considered a good score.
