Sussex News: Cheteshwar Pujara smashes stunning century in County Championship

Cheteshwar Pujara has been in a purple patch in the ongoing County Championship as he started the tournament with a double century in the second innings of the match against Derbyshire. The veteran Team India batsman has continued his fine form as he registered yet another stunning century in the ongoing game against Worcestershire.

However, Pujara is fighting single-handedly for Sussex as they look near to the opponent’s total. And, Cheteshwar Pujara brought up the three-figure mark on Day 3 of the ongoing Division 2 match as well. He registered the hundred off 184 balls with the help of 14 fours and he brought up the three-figure mark by smashing Jack Leach for a boundary in the 61st over.

After he reached the milestone, Sussex Cricket took to Twitter and tweeted, “Yes, @cheteshwar1!”

On the other hand, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for a duck while he was playing for Sussex. However, in the first innings of the ongoing game, Worcestershire put up 491 on the board, due to skipper Brett DOliveira’s stunning knock of 169 runs off 333 balls. For Sussex, Tom Haines returned with three scalps as well.

Meanwhile, in the previous game against Derbyshire, Cheteshwar Pujara had scored 243 runs off 491 balls which also included 22 fours. In the first innings, he managed only 6 runs but he was at his best in the second innings of the match as well.

However, Cheteshwar Pujara was seen the exit door from India’s Test squad this year for the series against Sri Lanka and he would be hoping to return to the team whose next assignment is against England in a one-off Test as well.
