Stoinis and Pooran take Lucknow Super Giants over the line in a cliffhanger

Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis take RCB off to a flyer

LSG won the toss earlier in the evening and invited RCB to have a bat. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis played brilliantly, making full use of the field restrictions and added 96 runs for the opening stand with Kohli scoring his 46th IPL fifty on the way. Then in came Glenn Maxwell at number 3 and took the attack straight away, he scored 59 off just 29 balls including 3 fours and 6 sixes and added 115 runs with du Plessis. RCB eventually finished with an excellent score of 212 in the allotted 20 overs.

Mohammad Siraj and Wayne Parnell take RCB off to a brilliant start in the powerplay

Mohammed Siraj provided RCB with a solid start bowling Kyle Mayers for a three-ball duck in the very first over with Wayne Parnell making a comeback in the league after 2014 picking up 2 quick wickets to send Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya back. LSG were in all sorts of bother at this point in the game and had to rebuild, before taking the attack again.

Marcus Stoinis and Nicolas Pooran launch the attack against RCB

Marcus Stoinis came in and played a brilliant knock of 65 in just 30 balls hitting 6 fours and 5 sixes adding 76 runs for the 4th wicket with the skipper KL Rahul, the skipper departed soon and in came Nicholas Pooran who started off straight away starting with a six and he hammered 7 of them with 4 fours to register this IPL season’s quickest half-century getting to the mark in just 15 balls. Pooran contributed with 62 in 18 balls and got dismissed at the wrong time for LSG.

The match goes down to the wire and LSG gets over the line with the smallest of margins

With 7 runs to win in 8 balls, there was another twist in the tale as 2 wickets fell in the final over of Mark Wood. With 1 required of the last ball, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi kept their nerve and stole a bye on the final dramatic ball which also involved a run-out attempt at the non striker’s end, but the tailenders stole the run and took their team over the line in one of the most dramatic finishes this year. Lucknow Super Giants register another win, this time by 1 wicket on the last ball of the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswami Stadium.
