We are all set for the T20 blast to get underway, the finals day last year was one of the most entertaining days cricket has seen in the English domestic circuit. The final of Vitality Blast T20 2022 was played at Edgbaston, Birmingham between Lancashire and Hampshire, which the latter won by one run, courtesy of Ben McDermott’s heroics. As always, the 18 county teams will participate in the Vitality Blast. The teams have been split into the North and South Groups. The tournament started in 2003 and initially, it was known as Twenty20 Cup from 2003-2009. In 2010, its name changed to Friends Provident T20 and a season later, it was called Friends Life T20. It was called ‘T20 Blast’ in 2014. Due to sponsorship reasons, it was called Natwest T20 Blast from 2014-2017 and now it is called Vitality T20 Blast.
Somerset will lock horns with Hampshire on the 23rd of May 2023 at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton which will home to Somerset. Tom Kohler Cadmore, Sean Dickson and Shoaib Bashir are the youngsters signed this season, Merchant de Lange, James Hildreth and Max Waller won’t be featuring in the Somerset unit. They have also signed some exciting overseas players like Peter Siddle, Cameron Bancroft, Matt Henry. Hampshire have a well-balanced unit, he have got in the experienced Benny Howell in place of Lewis McManus. They have some exciting overseas players in their squads, Kyle Abbott, Mohammad Abbas , Ben McDermott and Nathan Ellis.
