Shreyas Iyer hit 86 in the first innings in the First Test match against Bangladesh as India cruised their way to 400 runs on the 2nd day. When India lost four wickets for 112 runs, Cheteshwar Pujara made 90 runs and established a defining 149-run stand for the fifth wicket. Taijul Islam knocked Pujara out for 90 runs in the 85th over, while Iyer remained at the crease at the close of Day 1 with 82 runs off 169 balls. Iyer has been in fantastic form recently and presently tops the scoring chart for India across all formats in 2022. In 2022, he has currently scored 1493 runs in 38 innings across all formats and has surpassed SKY.

Iyer scored 724 runs from 15 ODI innings in 2022, with six fifties and a hundred, at an average of 55.69 and a strike rate of 91.52. This year, Iyer has solidified his position in the Test lineup. In international red-ball cricket in 2022, he made 302 runs from six innings at an average of 60.40, helped by three fifties. SKY has scored most of his runs in T20I this year as he is yet to play Test cricket and is not a regular member of the ODI XI as well.

Iyer good across formats

Suryakumar Yadav topped India in T20I scoring in 2022 with 1164 runs from 31 innings, but he had trouble making an impression in ODIs this year. In 2022, he managed just 260 runs from 12 ODIs, scoring them at a 26.00 average and hitting one fifty. Iyer was not selected for the 2022 Asia Cup or the 2022 T20 World Cup and has lost his regular spot in India’s T20I team. He did, however, manage to score 463 runs from 17 T20I innings in 2022, with an average of 35.61 and a strike rate of 141.15 thanks to four fifty-plus runs.
